Most Small Business owners in Orlando we’ve spoken to have asked “How do I complete the PCI compliance survey?”
It’s actually really easy…
Your merchant provider will provide you with instructions on how to access your PCI survey. If you lost this information, simply call your agent or the 1-800 customer support number for assistance. I know this is a pain, but it’s worth it.
Next, request your merchant support team to walk you through logging into your PCI portal and completing the survey. Sometimes setting up and starting the survey can be frustrating, so use your free support to assist you.

What is a PCI Survey?
Each year merchants are responsible for taking a PCI compliance survey. PCI stands for Payment Card Industry.
Its purpose is to educate you and your staff on how to best accept credit cards and handle sensitive card information; Avoiding security breaches and reducing fraud.
Why should I complete the PCI Survey?
Being PCI complaint is only a benefit to your business. It provides a certain level of security and insurance against hackers and fraudsters who can cause business ending breaches. Furthermore, if you don’t complete your survey each year, most providers will charge a hefty penalty in the range of $240 per year.
Why does your credit card processing company request that you take this survey every year?
Your Merchant Service Company is required by Payment Card Industry regulators to have their merchants complete the survey for the reasons stated above. In fact, they are fined for every merchant who does not complete the survey which is why they pass along a monthly Non PCI Compliant fee for those merchants who fail to complete it.
But I heard there are merchant companies who do not charge their clients a PCI compliance fee?
This is true however merchant service providers are still required to get their merchants to complete the yearly survey. To increase the percentage of merchants who finish the survey, processing companies hire a 3rd party PCI institution which isn’t cheap.
Just because your merchant company isn’t charging you a monthly or yearly PCI fee doesn’t mean that they aren’t covering this cost elsewhere by charging other fees.
A typical PCI fee only ranges between $5-$8 per month. It is a necessary fee that is charged so choosing a merchant provider who pretends that they don’t have this expense is often a costly mistake to your bank account. Their higher rates and other hidden fees end up adding up to much more.
We’re not tellng you this because we have a PCI fee and some of our competition doesn’t. For our clients who don’t want to see this line item, we will gladly eliminate it. Learn more about our pricing and rates here.
